Fall Prevention
Every 17 seconds, an older person is treated in the emergency room for a fall; every 29 minutes, an older adult dies from injuries incurred in a fall. The good news is that THE VAST MAJORITY OF FALLS ARE PREVENTABLE! The Werner Institute specializes in identifying those individuals at risk for falling. If a person is unsteady or suffers from dizziness – they are especially at risk. Additionally, those having been identified with osteoporosis should be, without exception, screened to insure they are not a fall risk. The Werner Institute prevents falls by identifying at-risk persons and prescribing appropriate strengthening and balance retraining therapy to greatly reduce fall risk.
